As look like Pinto horses in colour, but they are not similar to them.

Generally, American Paint Horses are healthy. There is a specific known health issue that is lethal white syndrome, for owners have to be very careful about that. Overo Lethal White Syndrome (OLWS) is another name of this disease. Some genetic disorders can also make them unwell like Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis, Equine polysaccharide storage myopathy, Hereditary Equine Regional Dermal Asthenia, Glycogen Branching Enzyme Deficiency and Malignant hyperthermia.
History :
Ancestors of American Paint horse are Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred horse breed. In 1962, American Paint Stock Horse Association was formed by merger of some groups and for American Paint Horses. Accurate Genetic bloodline of these horses is not known but its unique two toned coat is achieved only by crossing English Thoroughbred and American Quarter Horse (taken to North America by Spanish Conquistadors).
