A stray dog, who was stuck in a pool of hot tar in India's Udaipur city and was rescued, is now recovering.

The dog fell into the hot tar, which got leaked from a container and then became solid around the animal.

Thanks to Animal Aid Unlimited, a non-governmental organization that rescues animals

in distress, the dog was rescued. It took several hours for the team to clean the dog using vegetable oil. The dog is expected to be

recovered fully soon.

"The tar... became hard like a rock and he couldn"t move," Claire Abrams,

co-founder of Animal Aid Unlimited was quoted as saying.

This incident happened in August, however the rescue details were released by the NGO

after the dog had recovered.

Four volunteers rubbed vegetable oil for about two hours to remove the solidified

tar from the dog's body. The trick worked and the tar began heating up and then

gradually started melting.

"We were waiting for him to completely recover before going public with his story.

We have now released him back into the community," Ms Abrams said.
